The 1 Kw transducer is like dragging a brick through water!

That's why it is recommended to "skim" the water, but you may have found that "skimming" doesn't give you the results You hoped for and You loose image over 4 knots.

Its because of Your Boat hull. your boat slices through the water, at speed, smashing up those beautifully connected water molecules, air is introduced and Your left with - A Turbulent layer. Just look at the trail behind Your boat, what a mess Your boat leaves behind!

Your top surface "skimming"  transducer is trying to read through that  MESS.

Spray guard compatibility: Spray guard tabs are available to accommodate a spray deflector . No doubt, if You need to sink Your transducer deeper than "skimming" then your going to need to cover the spray caused by the brick dragging.

This is a secondary issue that is easier to fix than a poor sonar image.

#from SEPT 25 Our new model comes with deep drop and standard drop rear fixing plate - just turn the rear fixing plate upside down for either option. ( currently some pics may not show the new model) 

Easy retrofit: .No need to detach the entire cable setup during retrofitting, just slide cable into the rear slot. 

No extra drilling required: The TM2 is compatible with existing factory mount slot patterns, so there’s no need for additional drilling when replacing the factory mount.
